Id like to know how many of us in the CVMG has a sidecar. Not  necessary to be vintage cause a new Ural is vintage in my eyes. :-) With this info we can organize for section rallys, outings etc.

    Hi Doug,

If you are still counting, I have a military issued, OHV engine, CJ-750 from 1957.

In a not so far future, maybe there will be enough sidecars present at one of the CVMG rallies to organize a "special ride" in the neighborhood... It would certainly attract the attention of people and, help bring them to our event.

I have a 1938 Nimbus sidecar I recently imported from France to go with my 1939 Nimbus. Lots of fun riding it around the county. Now I must paint one of them. The paint on the sidecar is too nice to paint over even though I really prefer the Military green of the bike.

Bought GL new in 76 and added the sc around 1980.

    Been together ever since.

I noticed that if you put "sidecar" into the search window of the members directory you get 236 members that show sidecars as an interest. Assume maybe each on has a sidecar?

Not sure how to break it down by province but a list of 236 would not be too hard to go through.

    Hi Randy,

Thats great work! I think we need to put something in the news letter or how about a side car theme for Paris haha

Thanks for getting that count . Im truly surprised at that many.

I want to find one for winter riding. I was out today on ours at 2 degrees. Not so bad.

Winter driving the chair is unique. Most of my winter riding was in the early seventies when I didn't own anything else. The most used machine was a WL Harley with the Steib. The Harley frame had lots of clearance around the rear wheel so I used 15 feet of dog leash chain wrapped around and around the tire and through the spokes and bolted at the ends for snow traction.

One time in the middle of a major snow storm in Saint John I went by a police car struggling to get out of a service station yard . I knew the cops and the next day they pulled me over and asked me what the hell I thought I was doing riding in that weather. I shrugged and said " Jeez, you were the ones stuck in the snow". They were used to me and just shook their heads . No laws about riding in the winter but now Quebec uses the snow tire law to keep bikes off the streets.

When the chain got loose on the tire it shore beat the hell out of the tail of the rear fender.

Hi Doug, sorry I'm late to this party but if you're still counting we have several outfits in Nickel Belt Section. And we're talking about doing a side car outing this season, (2018) perhaps.

You've already heard from Doug with his Velo/V-Strom.

Our President Tony has a Gold Wing rig.

There is another Gold Wing/Hannigan owned by Graham Hubley

John and Margret Brons have a BMW rig.

Greg Buchanan has a Panther Watsonian and sometimes hangs a different Watsonian on his Guzzi Eldorado

Pete Dopson has two, a /5 Beemer with a Dnepr chair and a Honda Dream with a small sidecar.

Andrew Ferron has a Honda Silver Wing, (not the scooter, the original) with a Velorex

Alison Green has a /6 BMW with a Velo

Joe MacDonald has an old Russian outfit, I don't recall if its a Dnepr or Ural

Texas MacDonald has a Harley chair on his Panhead or his Knuckle head.

Gerry and his son John have a C.J. rig they ride regularly.

And I've got a Moto Guzzi Eldorado with a sidecar I built myself.

Here's a few of us at our Isle of Man(itoulin) Road Tour a few years ago.

I have a 1977 BMW R80/7 with a Velorex chair, easy steer, subframe, Sidecar tires all around and dual front disk brakes with upgraded master cylinder. This bike has been passed on to a new owner who is also a CVMG member. I'm going to miss that hack.
