BRANDON BROCK BIO I was late to the motorcycle game. My high school friends from London had, what are now classic bikes, and they rode them everyday. I sadly missed that stage of life. As my two young boys were growing up, we did get some trail bikes and all of us learned basic skills at the Ausable River Riders Parkhill site. The Kawasaki KDX 200 and various displacements of Honda XL’s were the early days of my motorcycle experiences. The Fanshawe Motorcycle course developed the street skills just enough to get my M licence. So with cash in pocket, I purchased a new 2007 Honda CBR600RR from Mid City Honda Center. The owner, after purchase and as I’m getting ready to drive away, suggested that I would kill myself on that bike. Hmmm, maybe he said that to all his customers….It was a fast bike and one to respect. The real street skills were developed with this silver beauty. I would not suggest that Im a collector, but an avid enthusiast, and that has taken me on a journey of Honda sporty models including CBX, RC51, CBR900rr and ST1300. I was able to retain most of these bikes, but some sadly went to other caretakers. More recently, I have started to develop some basic mechanical skills with work on a 75 Honda CB750K and multiple CT70s. The real advantage of CVMG is the skills and connections that take place with other helpful enthusiasts. Motorcycle touring with friends has probably been the best part of motorcycle ownership. Trips to the Daytona 200, Tail of the Dragon and the Blue Ridge were all epic rides with marginal accommodations, great food, some drinks and hanging out telling stories with the tribe. The most cantankerous and possibly evil bike was the Honda RC51. This is a 90 degree V twin bike developed by Honda to win the World Superbike championship in 2000. This would be the bike to find long lasting life pain. And I loved it. It went away to make a parking spot for a new from Inglis Cycle Kawasaki Z900RS. A beautiful well rounded bike. So now its about restoring some of those high school classics that I missed including the Honda CB750 sitting in the basement. |
