DS80 Suzuki transmision

I have a FS80 Suzuki apart for broken kick start stop, which is repaired.

the transmission seems to only turn less than one turn and binds in some way. The short driven shaft has a cast on gear but also has a gear pressed on the end. Is this normal? I have a parts exploded view trans, gears etc but no reading data on the bike. Sad to not finish the repair when the major part is good to go. Paul.
