The HD fascination has passed, yes. It was but a fever dream.

    Nice acquisition Frank.

Does this mean the HD yearning has passed?

It is a milder day today so out to the garage I went. I was able to switch out the handle bars of the 2 Suzuki GS1000. Now the lower bar is on the sport bike E version I just bought, and the higher bar is on the cruiser/chopper L version of the GS1000 which I had previously acquired.

I missed last week's Sunday breakfast meeting at Famous Sams. It was for a very good reason though - I was travelling to just east of Stirling ON to look at another bike.

My last bike purchase was a blue 1979 Suzuki GS1000L which is now my primary ride, supplanting my maroon 1974 Honda CB750. I preferred the bigger Suzuki because of the additional room and power. One thing I wished though was that it was the E version instead of the chopper style L version.

When I saw a black 1978 Suzuki GS1000E offered for sale on FB Marketplace, I knew I had to make an offer. I offered $500 less than the $2500 asking price and it was not accepted initially but a few days later the seller contacted me. This led to that Sunday morning excursion. I had to dig my trailer out of a snowbank first though.

When I got there the seller started the bike and it sounded good. It had new tires as well, so on to the trailer it went. It's now squeezed into my single garage bay with 4 other bikes including the aforementioned GS1000L. The seller indicated that it was safetied at the beginning of last summer, but that the brakes needed some attention - new pads and cleaning.

The first thing I did to the GS1000L when I got it home was to switch out the crazy bull horn handle bar for a much lower one from some unknown bike. The new GS1000E came with the original handle bar that is a bit taller than I'd like on a sports bike, so I'm going to put them on the L bike and move the lower bars onto the E bike. My garage is unheated but I can manage that job. I will wait for the weather to warm up in a few months before messing with the brakes though.

Winter is a good time to buy a bike. It's kind of cool to have two bikes so similar yet so different.  I'm a lucky guy. (previous owner's summer pic)
