Classic 1987 Yamaha YX600 Radian

Rare classic air-cooled Yamaha for sale. I bought it as a project to keep myself busy as I like working on motorcycles. The styling and sounds are based on the V-Max. The engine is a more modern derivative of the high performance, but reliable XJ550 Seca and FJ600 and is much the same as the FZ600. The engine tune by the factory is to give it a broader spread of torque at all RPM. I’m driving this motorcycle daily and find that I don’t have to downshift when passing cars or going up hills.

I've set my selling price of $2600 based on what any motorcycle in this fantastic condition is worth, not a premium as a classic. If you want to make a counter offer, you will have to come to Belleville and look the bike over. I work on a cash only basis. It is registered in FIT condition, so you can get a temporary permit and drive it away. Since I have this registered in my name, plated and insured ($115 per year) I can drive it locally to you. Fuel economy with mixed driving has been about 21 km per liter. You may get better as I am sometimes enthusiastic with the throttle.

Just so you know this is a simple motorcycle and here are some of the features:

-4 cylinder, air-cooled engine with 4 carburetors on a common shaft

-double overhead cam, 2 valve per cylinder engine with adjustment shims on top

    -6 speed transmission

-Simple transistor controlled ignition (no points)

    -Chain drive

    -Double seat and footpegs

    -Electronic tachometer

    -Quartz halogen headlight

    -Self-canceling turnsignals

If you are looking for an amazing bike to keep as a classic or ride to work every day, this is a great choice. Being air cooled engine, it is quick and easy for all maintenance. It is double overhead cam with shims on top of the buckets. I have change the shims to have ideal valve clearance and it doesn’t have to be checked for another 36,000 km.  I have performed all the other regular maintenance on the bike, so you don’t have to worry about any upcoming servicing

This Yamaha Radian YX600 was safety checked in March 2025 and is registered in my name as a fit vehicle. I expect that this YX600 will pass a safety inspection with no problem. I have the Used Vehicle Information package to go with it. I also have a digital copy of the Yamaha factory manual to give with it.

The motorcycle is factory stock, which also means that the exhaust, intake and carburetors are just as they left the factory. This means the insurance companies will not hassle you as the bike is not modified in any way. This bike is great for insurance as my rate is only $115 a year. Here are some of the things I did to put the bike into great condition:

    -New handlebar grips

    -New handlebar caps

    -New air filter

    -New oil filter

-Fresh motorcycle semi-synthetic Lucas oil in engine and transmission

    -New fork seals

    -Fork oil change

    -New intake manifolds

    -New carburetor needles and seats

    -New petcock seal

    -New battery

    -New NGK spark plugs

    -New starter motor brush assembly

    MAINTENANCE

    -Valve clearance adjustment

    -Cam chain tension

    -Float level adjustment

    -Carburetor synchronization

-Hydraulic brake system clean and flush with DOT 4 brake fluid

    -Clean gas tank

-Overhaul electric started with cleaning, lubrication and optimizing commutator

    NOTE:

-Chain and sprockets are in good shape

    -Tires are in good shape

I just sold it. But I have a 1987 Yamaha YX600 Radian for sale. Same price, $2600. Come on over and have a look. It is a daily driver, so I can come to you if you like.
