Rare, low kilometers maroon, twin cylinder ‘74 Yamaha. Model was originally produced in ‘73 and had many technological advances to compete with the Honda CB750, but had reliability issues. The issues were solved for the ‘74 model year, but the reputation from 73 carried over and only around 3,000 ‘74 bikes were sold making this bike rare.
This example has all original parts except the original mufflers. K and N air pod filters were installed by the previous owner, but I have the original airbox. The bike was running well when put into storage ten years ago. The tank is solid as are the rims, side covers, original wiring, and controls.
The bike will need a carb cleaning, headlight re-installed, front calipers cleaned to free them up, and a general going over. The seat cover would look better replaced, the rear fender has a crack in it and used ones are readily available as they are the same fender as the 650 and 500. Aftermarket mufflers need to be installed such as Emgo Dunstall or pea shooter type for a close to original look.
This bike has been an interesting addition to my small collection, but I just don't have the time or space to look after it.
