Dear Club Members
The postponement of our annual Rally will probably not come as a great surprise to you, given the current situation.
When I last wrote in March, I stated that the executive committee would be actively following the restrictions and advice of our various levels of government in determining what meetings and events in our 2020 calendar would still be feasible to hold. Moreover, much attention is being paid to the health and safety of our members given our generally increased vulnerability to this dangerous virus.
It is now virtually certain that our Rally, as scheduled for August 1-2nd , cannot legally or safely be held in its normal format. Following a recent video meeting with members of the Rally Committee, we decided to postpone rather than cancel the event. This gives us the flexibility to hopefully arrange something later in the year.
Meanwhile we will review the situation for all meetings and events month by month and take appropriate decisions. We will also keep you informed of the situation via a monthly newsletter and some suggestions on how we can keep the club spirit alive with methods of group contact.
It’s hard to contemplate being restricted from enjoying our beloved pastime. The simple joy of the first Spring ride and the anticipation of joining together for our events are things we normally take for granted. Patience must prevail I’m afraid.
At least no one can come up with the excuse this year that there was no time to complete the winter’s project!!
My best regards to you all.
Take extra care.
