    1931 BMW R2 Series 1

    First year of BMW’s single cylinder 198cc R2 bikes.
    A significant and rare bike in original condition with beautiful patina.
    The only year with exposed valves and rockers.
    Three speed hand shift with a pressed steel duplex frame.
    Engine and transmission have been apart and serviced to ensure correctness. All electrics work. Last ridden two years ago and is kicked over regularly.
    Located and registered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

    According to BMW Archives, the 1931 was number 862 off the R2 assembly line on March 26, 1931. Referred to in Germany as “The People’s Bike”. This was the first model of what became the very popular BMW 250cc bikes (R25, R26 & R27). It was  purchased from an estate 12 years ago and the distant family knew nothing of how it got to Canada.

    The 1935 R2 was purchased in Belgium and shipped to Canada in around 2009
