Brief "Flurry" of activity

I see that my name is on the last two or three entries here. I have lots to talk about but need some encouragement from pilots and monkeys. I have written an article for the news magazine and am waiting to see if John uses it. I hope it gets more interest and response than the blog has. Help!!! it's kind of lonely here.

It is difficult to get traction sometimes eh ?

My Nimbus combination contribution is on my own web site and I will be adding additional information about my sidecar rebuild in the next few weeks. I had a new frame made as the old one had rotted out.

I did have a photo of a couple of RMS section rigs - my Nimbus and Dave's BMW - in the October 2016 issue of RealClassic magazine

You can see a larger photo at this link . Once there, just click on any image on the page to see a larger version

My wife and i have a special unit that i will try to get it in story form. We dont take a lot of pics so im counting on friends to send me some. Monkeys are the race type sidecar passengers. As they flip flop around around to keep the rig balanced. My wife tends to stay vertical hehe. No white knuckles. Merry Christmas all..

I think the idea here is to create more interest within the CVMG News so as to gain a wider following within the CVMG. If John gets a story a week or so ahead of the deadline it gives him time to get it in the News.

Agreed Thane, however speaking only for myself, there are just so many hours in a day. I'm adding new material somewhere on my web site each week so I'll let others take the lead on this one.

Hello Ian, I thought the site might be more active than it has been, after my one post a year ago I see its still the last one in that thread, so I stopped looking. It does seem to be warming up a bit so I will stop by more often.

Side car set up Ideal: 1/2" negative trail, 1/4-1/2" tow in over 6ft, chair wheel about 10-11" forward of the rear wheel.

When I reached the ripe age of 16 my first bike was a BSA flat head with sidecar 20 quid maybe another 10 for the chair. I guess I have always been hooked but the support structure has disappeared. In the late 50's the Triumph dealer in the "Sandpits" area of Birmingham "H&L Motors" carried triple trees to adjust trail, lower gearing drive sprocket, stiffer fork springs, and friction damper if not fitted.

They also carried re bored cylinders with pistons, re lined brake shoes, straightened fork tubes, reground cranks ready to go. They would send out frames to be re set, and body work for paint.

On another note next door was the jewelry quarter, where not that long ago an aficionado engraved a verse from the Koran on the edge of a razor. working at night so as to reduce vibration from traffic, he worked between heart beats, and being an old building the odd scurrying mouse which caused his heart rate to speed up.   We should all have dreams.
