I rode my rig through the winter last year - considering doing the same this year, mostly weekend rides on day where the roads were dry enough , I didnt put on HUGE miles but I did get it out a fair bit - i noticed a bit of rust on the bottom side of the tub this fall - i was thinking some undercoating - or rockguard product to keep erosion at bay - is anyone treating the road-side of their tubs ? what with ?

I normally ride on good days throughout the winter until I can't navigate my hill and driveway. Did a twenty km loop yesterday, -7 C but sunny and pleasant. Back in the late sixties, early seventies, I rode year around for seven years when the only transportation I owned was a Harley Magnum and my Steib. Used chains in the snow. The salt would eat the wiring so usually rewired the bike two or three times through the winter. Never worried about undercoating. Lots of stories from those days.

When I first got my new Cozy sidecar to put on Royal Enfield, I had already decided to get the tub coated. When looking at used Urals, everyone had rust somewhere, no matter how new or old, old of course just looked worse. I decided if I got a new rig of any type or form it would be coated. I went to LINE-X in Hamilton, they were trilled cause no one has ever done this before, we agreed on a price and it turned out pretty good. Have had no problems for the past 3 years and would do it again. There was one problem in that the seat that came with it had predrilled bolts that were no longer long enough to go through and be tightened down, that being said I am constantly taking the set in and out anyways for other use's beside human traveling, the bolts are still good for lining up where the seat goes and it does not slide around.
