Does anybody out there know of a good plating shop in the Toronto / Hamilton area. Obviously no shop is cheap but is there some one out there providing a good service that I can take my bits to?

I hear many stories of shops long gone but no one seems to be able to tell me about places to go now.

I haven't used these guys, but I've heard good things from others who have.

I've used Mayfair Plating 96 Carlaw Ave. in Toronto for years. Chuck does a good job for a fair price. They do polishing as well. 416 461 4435

    Hey Chris.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. It can be a real headache trying to find somewhere to take your stuff. I'll check out Mayfair along with the others I have been given and hopefully I'll get a result.

Greg, If you are still looking, I've heard they do very good plating at "The Plating House" in Toronto. Phone 416-661-3964.

This topic just lives on! I had Mayfair re-plate two fenders last year. One was OK, but the other one is best described as “usable”. Fortunately the yellow, poor 1/2, is mostly hidden.

Last week, I decided to see if I could get a pair of turn signal stems done. They are for my Benelli 750 SEI, so not readily available. WOW!! These small tubes are about 4.5” long, and 5/8” diameter. Threaded at both ends, there are two of them and two flared base nuts. Quotes are $175-200 PLUS TAX, PLUS POSTAGE! What they must charge for a bumper??

I was able to buy 4 new, Moto Guzzi style, chromed replicas (not identical, but close enough!) for under $100. Same size, thread and pitch, all the hardware, and they are plated.....

Don't have any comments on good plating firms but I do have a question. Why are so many postings on this topic marked "Deleted user" ???     Bob...
