Has anyone out there bought parts from CBFaces.com in the Netherlands to rebuild Honda ND gauges from the 70's? I'm curious how the sealing ring is removed & the new one is crimped back on?I'd like to send them away to CB faces to be done ,but he says usually 2 months in his shop & I'd like to get the bike finished.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Dave Smith 55smith@bell.net

Dave...... his products aresuperb. I have only seen instruments that he has restored, and they are even better. I think there is a tutorial on his site (or he has a video on UTube?) about the ring removal. I have done it a few times...... start with a tiny screw driver, folding back the underside lip, around the clock several times.... Then a larger screw driver,,,,,,, again and again. The trick is NOT to stretch the edge enough to leave a mark. It takes forever! When you send it in, they usually replace the ring and black bucket. They also have a “crimping pot” that the entire unit goes into. Doing it at home, you have to start tapping the ring back into shape with a small, soft, flat punch. Again, the slower the better, over and over.

I’ve done a few that look OK from above, the foam base ring hides most of my work. When I pull them out, I can usually tell when they’ve been opened. Good Luck!

Dave, what year is your bike? I have some 73+ gauges that were rebuilt by Marcel at CB750faces still in the box and they are beautiful!

The bike is a 74 Rickman with a 77 CB550F motor & electrics & gauges. How much are you looking for the two gauges?
