Looking for comments/ experience with companys that provide you with a US address so parts can be shipped to it and then shipped to your Canadian address.  This would be for buying parts from EBay sellers who don't ship to Canada.  Some such company names are; SHIPPIT, SHIPITO, MYUS, BORDERLINX, RESHIP etc.

I need to use something like this but don't want to get ripped off.

    thanks

    Brian

A couple of weeks ago, I opened an account with  www.crossborderpickups.ca to receive a shipment of bolts from Mcmaster Carr in the US (who will not ship directly to residential addresses in Canada) . All went well, and I picked up my goods from their Mississauga office.

I have had the same issues. What I have found is there are lots border towns that have package pick ups specifically for Canadians. It's sort of a boom industry. In Manitoba I regularly have packages shipped to Menke's Parcel Service and it costs $5 a package. About an hour and a half from Winnipeg and when you factor in free shipping it easily pays for the gas. I'd look for another such service where you live.

I've had good results with cbiusa.com in Niagara Falls, NY. They've been around quite a while and can handle a shipment of parts or a complete motorcycle.

I realize that you are in Calgary, so this is a bit far away, but I have been using My US Address in Ogdensburg NY.  I always pick up my parcels in person which suits me fine because Ogdensburg is only 45 minutes from Ottawa.  The only reason that I mention this to you is because they have a "Push it North" service that will broker parcels across the border for a flat fee and ship to your address.  You may be too far away for this to be economical, but I have attached a link anyways, in case you want to check them out.

    Hi Brian,

A few of us in Southern Manitoba (Keystone section) are fortunate to live only 12 Km from the North Dakota border. We regularly order parts from US suppliers and give the address of "Connie's Depot" in the small town of Walhalla ND. She runs a thriving business and only charges US$2.50 per parcel. Customs are used to Manitobans going across to collect from Connie and as long as you have an invoice inside the parcel there is no trouble coming back.  The US suppliers invariably have free shipping in "the continental US" and if the amount is small Canadian Customs don't charge any duty.  They won't tell us what the cut-off amount is though!  CA$100 seems to get through without duty. We have been known to ask the supplier to split up deliveries and prices!  Even guys from Winnipeg 120km away from the border, use Connie's Depot!  We usually fill with gas while we are there at MUCH reduced prices so it is a win, win trip for us!

    Regards, Tom

I use US Address in Lewiston, NY.  $5.00 for packages under 50 lb and $10.00 for receiving packages over 50 lb.  I've always had good service and I've saved hundreds in postage fees.
